Gunung Sewu Handed Over 50 HUNTARA For Tsunami Victims in Palu

Gunung Sewu through Rotary Indonesia handed over temporary housings (HUNTARA) for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Palu, Central Sulawesi on December 15th, 2018.

Palu was ravaged by two quakes measuring 6.1 and 7.5 on the Richter scale on September 28. A 6m tsunami hit the shores after the second quake struck the area in the afternoon of the same day. The disasters killed more than 2,200 people, left 1,000 missing, nearly 11,000 injured, and 83,000 others forced to evacuate.

According to the Government of Indonesia, over 16,000 people were rendered homeless and in need of temporary housing due to the disasters. “As soon as we received this news, we have worked together with Rotary Indonesia to provide temporary shelters for the affected community. We believe that at this difficult time, every form of contribution will bring significant support to them, said Ingrid Aurelia, Corporate Communications of Gunung Sewu.

Sequis, an insurance business of Gunung Sewu, also participated to provide 50 HUNTARA for the affected communities in Palu and surrounding regions.
